Russia World Chaîne Day

Snow could not deter the celebrations

In St Petersburg this year our celebration planned to take place on the roof of the Ambassador Hotel had to be moved for safety reasons - heavy snow, strong winds and a temperature of minus 2C!

We were indeed fortunate that at the last moment Chaîne member Marina Kalgina agreed that we could move the event to her legendary Restaurant Troika.

The restaurant opened in 1978. Throughout the almost 40 years since then every night on stage dancers perform the famous “Troika” variety show to the delight of residents and guests of the city. Today, the establishment is a family business with several generations ensuring the company’s gastronomic and entertainment traditions.

Our World Chaîne Day was unique with a photo-session of members and guests in traditional costumes of the Russian monarchs from the 16th - 17th centuries, all designed by Marina and her team at the Troika.

Adding to the spectacle, Sommelier Ruslan Devetyarov demonstrated his skills by using a sword to open a bottle of Champagne Mumm.

The Troika Pastry Chefs created a two flavours / three tiers cake especially for the celebration. Delicious black and red caviar with condiments added to the regal style of the event.

Despite the inclement weather, once again it was a most enjoyable World Chaîne Day observance, another one in St Petersburg which will be remembered for a long time.
