Austria 40th Anniversary Celebration
Bailliage Provincial of Tyrol
Kitzbühel, Going & Wilder Kaiser, May 18-21, 2017
40 years feted by four brilliant dinners
" Undoubtedly this event made it four out of four dinners worthy of celebrating the Bailliage's 40 years "

The events in the programme took place at the same time and the same locations where 40 years ago the formation of the Bailliage of Tyrol had taken place.

We started on Thursday with an OMGD Champagne Tasting and dinner at the elite Kitzbühel Country Club. Johannes Einzenberger, the representative in Austria for Champagne Pommery-Vranken presented ten delicious champagnes, accompanied by eight outstanding dishes, prepared by Executive Chef Reinhard Brandner. Starting the celebrations the event was a striking success.

On Friday we visited the cheese dairy where we tasted different types of cheese perfectly partnered by wines presented by Matthias Marchesani from Dürnberg Winery in Lower Austria.

For dinner we went to the world-famous 400-year old "Stanglwirt" at Going. The owner, Officier Maître Restaurateur Balthasar Hauser, is a founder member of the Bailliage of Tyrol. Other Chaîne members at the establishment are his son, Chef de Table Johannes Hauser, the Director, Maître Restaurateur Trixi Moser, and the Executive Chef Maître Rôtisseur Thomas Ritzer. As every time at the "Stanglwirt" we experienced a very familiar atmosphere; the “Grand Seigneur” and members of his family presented some "Gstanzln" (lovely songs of the region).

Wines were selected by Tyrol founder member Peter Morandell, now Conseiller Gastronomique Provincial. He presented them in a professional and witty manner. All guests confirmed that they enjoyed this second day best with its Tyrolean hospitality and specialities.

On Saturday we got the feel of Kitzbühel starting with a champagne welcome on the terrace of Rüschenbeck, the well-known jewellers. We walked through the market seeing local food specialities followed by a sightseeing tour by horse-drawn carriage.

At the formal ceremony in the Casineum of the Casino Kitzbühel, salutations were given by Bailli Délégué Norbert Simon and the Bailli Provincial of Tyrol, Walter Hopfner. Furthermore we paid homage to those who have been Chaîne members for 40 years plus.

At the Grand Gala Dinner in Hotel Zur Tenne’s banqueting room we were welcomed by Maître Hôtelier Thomas Lechner. It was another brilliant performance by the respective brigades.

The farewell event on Sunday was held with the "singing landlady", Maître Restaurateur Rosi Schipflinger, and Maître Rôtisseur Friedel Schipflinger. The dinner was a very special one for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs given that geese roasted on the spit were served! Undoubtedly this event made it four out of four dinners worthy of celebrating the Bailliage’s 40 years.

Everyone agreed that the 40th anniversary will be unforgettable and that they are eagerly looking forward celebrating the Bailliage’s 50th in ten years’ time!
